INTRODUCING THE VANCOUVER PSYCHOLOGY CENTRE’S NEW CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY TRAINING CLINIC

AFFORDABLE OPTIONS FOR SERVICES:

We would like to introduce you to our Clinical Psychology Training Clinic for doctoral students in psychology. Whether funds are limited or you don’t have extended health insurance, the Vancouver Psychology Centre is pleased to offer affordable therapy service through our Clinical Psychology Training Centre.

Therapists at the Clinical Psychology Training Clinic are students in a university doctoral program and are studying to become psychologists. They are supervised by Registered Psychologists at Vancouver Psychology Centre and already have assessment and therapy experience.

Fees are $120 per 50-minute session, which we are happy to offer to our community as an alternative to the session fees for a Registered Psychologist ($225 – $245).

Vancouver Psychology Centre’s Clinical Psychology Training Clinic provides reduced-fee psychological services to the community and professional training to psychology students at the graduate level.

We offer psychotherapy for individual adults, adolescents, group classes for adolescents and children, and psychoeducational assessments for children and youth.

Vancouver Psychology Centre Clinical Psychology Training Clinic does not accept clients who:

  • are in need of hospitalization at the time of intake
  • are at an active risk for harm to self or others
  • are involved in legal proceedings (e.g., criminal court, divorce court)
  • have serious substance abuse problems
  • funded by third party payors, for example, ICBC, WorkSafeBC, Long Term Disability insurance
  • are in need of custody/access evaluations
  • are in need of medical/legal assessments
  • are on probation or parole

Trainees are supervised in every aspect of their work by Registered Psychologists. Supervision primarily involves discussing the trainee’s work with their supervisor, but sessions may be audiotaped, videotaped, or observed live for supervision purposes. Tapes are used for training purposes and then permanently erased.

We are accepting new referrals now!
